The islands lie roughly 1,400km from mainland India, spread out like emeralds in the sea. Major islands include Port Blair(capital), Havelock(स्वराज द्वीप),Neil(शहीद द्वीप) and Baratang. The North and Middle Andaman are known for thick forests, while Little Andaman offers surfing spots and tribal reserves.
